specialized Web authoring tool? What are some of the Web authoring tools available? What things should I consider when designing my layout? |

| With a bit of thought and some general design skills it is possible for an individual with little HTML authoring experience to develop sophisticated Web pages - provided an advanced Web authoring tool is used. Web authoring tools are also utilized by experienced Web designers to speed productivity and prototyping during the initial stages of their projects. | ||
| There are so many of them it is hard to evaluate them all here. Ask people that have used different software and then be prepared to take a hard crash course on there use and maybe even having to "trash it" and find another. | ||
| First make certain that your layout will allow your visitors to
more easily absorb the information that will be presented and that it allows for efficient
navigation. If there won't be enough content on your site to justify a sophisticated
layout then avoid attempting to rationalize the use of one; In other words, if your site
is going to be simple then keep your layout simple as well. Lastly, unless your site is
going to contain more than fifty pages, try to avoid using frames. Frames are a wonderful
tool for organizing lots of choices and information - but will slow your site down
with additional HTTP requests and could make impatient visitors back out of your site. It
is also a hindrance to viewers that use WebTV (they can't view frames). A well designed layout will:
